Given all the pre-season bravado and bluster that preceded Rangers' first campaign back in the top flight of Scottish football for pretty much half a decade, their struggles to wholly convince among the elite must be a huge disappointment to the Ibrox faithful.

While truly keeping up with Celtic over the course of a whole season was always going to be a tough task, the fact the Gers trail their bitter rivals by 30 points is a bitter pill to swallow indeed. Mark Warburton's departure may not have been met with many tears from the club's support, though it's clear those at Ibrox will need to embark on a long-term project with a clear idea to truly catch up with their famous Glasgow rivals.

With that in mind, there's been a lot of talk in the press in regards to the idea of implementing a Director of Football to help Warburton's eventual replacement. Though it's unclear as to whether or not their eventual appointment in that role would perform the same duties as the rather unpopular Frank McParland did, it seems top brass up the marble staircase have decided on that particular strategy.

But, do Rangers fans feel the same way? The role has worked out some clubs, not at others, and largely has a more continental feel to it than perhaps Glasgow can offer. So, with that said, do you feel it's the route the Gers should go down?
