Becoming a club's all-time record goalscorer, especially a club as prestigious as Manchester United, should be a cause for long-awaited celebration.

But Wayne Rooney's superb strike on Saturday, a rasping free kick equaliser against Stoke City that moved him above Bobby Charlton in the all-time charts, is seen by many as the curtain call on his lengthy, title-laden, record-setting Red Devils career.

Indeed, having unquestionably entered his decline in recent years, Rooney's seemingly clung onto his Old Trafford contract for dear life, hoping he'll finally get his chance to etch his name permanently in the history books.

So now that moment's come and gone, Rooney could well move onto pastures new, especially considering he's now 31, has achieved everything there is to achieve at United and is about to enter the final two years of his contract, with an extension unlikely.

Harry Redknapp reckons Wazza Roo should return to boyhood club Everton, the tabloids are reporting a £1million per-week deal in the Chinese Super League and considering the career paths of former England team-mates Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, a move to the MLS can't be ruled out either.

But the crystal ball at Football FanCast is unfortunately on the fritz, so we're asking our United readers for their predictions on where Rooney will be plying his trade at the start of next season. Let us know your thoughts by partaking in the poll below...
