Sunday's EFL Cup final will be remembered for the performances of two key individuals - strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manolo Gabbiadini.

It may seem almost superficial to simplistically point towards the two main goalscorers as the highlight acts at Wembley, but Sunday's 3-2 affair was undoubtedly the tale of two front-men.

Although he was excluded from the full-time jubilation Ibrahimovic enjoyed after heading home the winner in the 87th minute, Gabbiadini had an equal impact on the match, inspiring a Saints comeback with goals either side of half-time until it was killed off by his Manchester United counterpart late on.

In fact, the Southampton assassin should have left Wembley with the match ball, having seen an early strike wrongly chalked off for offside, and some Liverpool fans were so impressed by his performance that they're already talking about a summer swoop for the Italy international.

Of course, those calls have been made partly in jest, due to Liverpool and Southampton's curious relationship in the transfer market. Since summer 2014, four players have traded St. Mary's for Merseyside with varying degrees of success.

Nonetheless, Southampton have inevitably developed a reputation as a bit of a selling club, so with the 6 foot 1 forward already showing how effective he can be in finding goals against high-quality opposition, could he exit St. Mary's as early as the summer? Let us know by voting below...
