Schalke hopeful despite Chelsea and Man United’s transfer interest

Schalke are confident they will keep hold of midfielder Julian Draxler at the German side next season, despite interest from Premier league sides.
Sky Sports are reporting interest in the 19-year-old from Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as from both Milan clubs. Draxler has impressed for Schalke again this season, helping the club reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
But Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt is determined to keep Draxler happy, and believes it’s important the club qualify for the Champions League next season:
“Julian Draxler is under contract at our club and he is an important player. We want to keep him at our club for as long as possible.” Heldt told BILD.
“It’s our obligation to ensure he feels fine being with us. From our point of view, it would be helpful to win a berth in the UEFA Champions League for next season. This would be a boost!”
Draxler has been at Schalke since 2001, where he made his senior debut in January 2011. The German international has enjoyed a successful career with the Gelsenkirchen club, winning the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup in 2011.
The 19-year-old isn’t expected to start in Germany’s upcoming home and away fixtures against Kazahkstan, after only making his international debut last year.
