Cristiano Ronaldo is having a season to remember – so much so that he may now have moved ahead of Lionel Messi in the battle to be considered the worlds best.
The former Manchester United man was at it again this weekend, hitting his fourth hat trick of the season as Real Madrid enjoyed a 5-1 win over Real Sociedad.
Ronaldo had already taken home three match balls this season before his exploits on Saturday, with trebles against Sevilla in La Liga, Galatasary in the Champions League, and Northern Ireland whilst on international duty.
And his hat trick on Saturday was in fact his 19th hat trick for Real Madrid in La Liga – a staggering statistic considering he has only been plying his trade in Spain for four seasons.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has managed an incredible 17 hat tricks for Barcelona in La Liga, but over the course of 8 seasons.
Is this a statistic that shows Ronaldo should now in fact be considered the best player in the world ahead of the Argentine?
