St Etienne midfielder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Paris St Germain are set to add to their star squad by signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite interest from Premier League clubs.

The 23-year-old has been one of the players of Ligue 1, guiding St Etienne to 4th in the table. However, Aubameyang has stated his desire to ‘join a top club’, according to the Metro.

With English sides Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle all reportedly interested in the Gabon international, PSG appear to be Aubameyang’s choice of club.

“I am ready to join a top club. PSG? Of course an eventual offer would be really interesting, but I don’t know if they are really tracking me. We will see. In any case it would be nice to play alongside Ibrahimovic.”

However, Aubameyang’s comments haven’t deferred Chelsea, who apparently sent scouts to watch the Gabon star in St Etienne’s 2-2 draw on Friday night. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was also rumoured to be watching from the stands.

Aubameyang has scored 17 times this season, recoding eight goals in his last eight games. And with electric pace and great finishing, Aubameyang is one of the top rated youth players in Europe.

The French-born star will next play for St Etienne at the end of March after the international break, as his side travel to 19th placed Troyes.
