Spurs 0-1 Hull. Everything else is a footnote really. This weeks bag of goodies includes Doc, Mike and the old guard, Niall, talking about the shape of things to come, who really is to blame and where do we go from here. Join the facebook group. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=28453629005&ref=t sound quality is a bit poor on this show, we will try to sort it out for next week. Enjoy

The direction in which Ramos
The direction in which Ramos wants to take this team is now unclear. I think this is due to the fact that any plans the coaching and managerial staff had developed over the summer were cancelled out by not only what had happened in the transfer market but by a sense of panic at the lack of experience they was left with. Our Initial Preparation this season was the best in years. The training camp in Spain and the return of the players to the lodge was clockwork. At this point we had Dos Santos gelling with the players, Modric came in from Euros, Keano and Berbs were training, Steed was with the squad, hell Ramos even started bringing on Bostock and Pekhart. Then the wheeling and dealing started and in no time at all Ramos and his staff were back to square one and without the luxury of heading back to Spain for another training camp. Now Players come and go every year and it is only natural that some players will take longer to settle then others but I would have though that ( and perhaps Ramos did too) their were still enough of the squad from preseason to at least bring on the new players and help them adapt to the Ramos system. Preseason matches suggested that, with some descent performances against a variety of opposition. It is at this point in which I start to question the coaching staff and in particular Ramos, what changed (apart from Berbs) since the Roma match? The answer to this I believe is simple and that’s tactical decisions brought on by the fear of failure and the panic for a quick fix. Whether or not Ramos had faith in the squad he was left with to play his style I think is irrelevant. You can’t expect young players like Bale, O’Hara, Dos Santos or even new premiership players such as Modric to suddenly adapt to a new system within the space of a week. I still think that Ramos is the way forward for Spurs and this erratic tactical vomit is in no way a reflection on his abilities but rather an error in judgement on his behalf and if he went back to the basics of Preseason (4-4-2) with this squad we would start to turn things around. It had appeared that every one knew their job during preseason and that there were even a few combinations starting to form, in particular a strike partnership with Dos Santos and Bent. Defensively we are now stronger then last year Corluka, Hutton, Bale King Woodgate, Gunter are all class and will only get better. We have more options in midfield yet the same old problems (Jenas, Zokora) and a yet to be proven strike force. I would like to see a real simple 4-4-2 formation against Stoke with Dos Santos and Bent as the strikers, Modric behind them with Bentley RM, O’Hara LM, Zokora DM, Gunter RB, Corluka and Woodgate in the Middle with Bale LB and Gomes GK. Dos Santos has the ability to create for Bent who can stick them away when presented the chances and besides the potential interaction between Modric and Dos Santos would suck in many defenders and allow Bent to utilise his Pace. Basically the point behind this long comment is that the answer is within the squad and Ramos. The fear has become reality there is no quick fix its time to get back to basics and allow the qualities of individuals be the difference rather then tactical masturbation.
