Aston Villa and England midfielder Gareth Barry is adamant
that this summer's on-off transfer Liverpool has now been put to the back of
his mind.
The 27-year-old is currently preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia and is content that his mind is focused on the job at hand for both club and country.
He commented: "I feel totally focused and mentally ready for these two games ahead. Of course, it was a difficult summer, a tough summer for myself.
"It is the first time I've really experienced anything like that in my career, the first transfer I've been involved in after being at Villa more than ten years, but that's all in the past now.
"That is why I felt it was important I didn't wait until the last minute of the transfer window to make a statement which let everyone know where I was going to be.
"I made it ten days ago to try and end all the speculation and also to let everyone know my mind is focused on playing for Villa and, now more importantly, focusing on the upcoming games for England."
Is Gareth Barry back in the good books of Villa fans, or have those bridges been truly burnt?
