FanCast reporter Juan
Vasquez feels that
Spurs' striking problems are staring Ramos in the face and he just needs to
give Dos Santos his chance to shine.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how
quickly supporters are dismissive of players, because they fail to make an
instant impact. I look back at Tottenham in the last 25yrs and I can make a
list as long as your arms of players who have taken months before they finally
settle into the team. Unfortunately that is sometimes the case and in all
honesty Ramos' tactics have done little to help them to adjust, therefore I
have a lot of sympathy with the new arrivals at the Lane.
You don't put square pegs in round holes and with
the exception of Gomes and Pavlyuchenko; all of them have had to take on alien
roles. I don't quite understand how this benefits them individually, who are
still trying to get use to playing with their new teammates and are constantly
herded into different positions - it is like Ramos is doing what we have all
tried on ‘Championship Manager' over the years in trying to find a winning
system at all costs, which inadvertently is having a detrimental effect on the
team. We know the gifts that Bentley possesses, we are fully aware of Modric's
talents, so why try and turn them into different players - it really doesn't
make sense to me.
I think what bemuses us neutrals about your football club is the sheer volume and depth of quality at Ramos' disposal and his failure to utilise it accordingly. I don't know how many people were aware of Giovani Dos Santos before he arrived in England, but this guy is hot property. It is an absolute travesty that the Mexican isn't a regular starter in that Tottenham team and it really makes no sense to exclude him, especially with the team crying out for a spark in the final third.
Dos Santos has the complete game, should be playing as a withdrawn striker and he will cause mayhem to Premier League defences. Twenty minute cameos here and there are doing nothing for the player and therefore hardly endearing him to the Spurs supporters, who probably see him as something of a dud. Have you ever wondered why Dos Santos constantly has to justify to the media as to why he is happy at the club and in time things will come good? It is because there is dismay in the European press as to why Dos Santos isn't getting the games, given that he only quit Barcelona for first team football. Juande Ramos has the potential solution to the clubs striking problems staring him in the face and it's time the Spaniard put his faith in him - he could well save him his job.
