Football FanCast
columnist Joe Jennings reacts to Carragher and extracts from his
book.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Jamie Carragher's comments in his new autobiography verify what Liverpool fans
are all about - foolish and frankly pathetic, but then again, it's not like
Liverpool to play the victim.
Just what is Jamie trying to achieve with his riling comments? Is he trying to get us to believe that Evertonians behaviour in Europe is worse than our arch rivals? If so, then think again.
As far as this Blue is concerned, what Everton supporters chant is nothing in comparison to the heinous abuse the Liverpool "fans" set aside for Manchester United over the Munich Air Disaster, not to mention the racist remarks towards Joleon Lescott in the last Merseyside Derby.
Liverpool often brand Everton "bitter" yet they seem unable to leave us alone, just what is the obsession? After all, Manchester United are your main rival now, right? If Liverpool "fans" aren't emptying their lungs in the direction of Evertonians, they're spitting on our players, waving Tesco carrier bags or following us around in the media. Bitter? No!
'I was made up on the first day of the season when Blackburn scored that late winner at Goodison. We were getting ready to play Sunderland and it gave me a big lift.' This comment only serves as a timely reminder of what a bitter and sour man that Carragher has become, I find it pathetic. Yet nobody associated with Liverpool Football Club harbours any negative connotations - of course not!
'Evertonians spread the lies around the streets of Liverpool and chant them whether they're playing us, Reading or Portsmouth.' That's a serious charge, Jamie. Taking into consideration your fans have been deemed by UEFA the "worst in Europe", I feel you're fast turning into a typical Kopite, a deluded imbecile in short.
What will appear next from Carragher's hot cake of a book, maybe the loud and proud "this is our year"? It certainly wouldn't be the first time. When it does arrive, I'm sure the country will chuckle in amusement and conclude what many have thought for a long while now - Liverpool fans are nothing but self regarding, deluded fantasists.
Get a grip Liverpool, oh and whilst you're at it; stop goading Everton with this imaginary stick you love to flash out, it's cringeworthy at best. Don't forget lads, one Evertonian is worth twenty Liverpudlians.
