So the
footy season is well and truly over, ending in a stylish fashion the Champions
League Final didn't disappoint this year with two English teams in the final it
promised to be an epic and my word it certainly didn't disappoint. Fast paced,
high skill, plenty of drama and a good old fashioned tear up - the perfect
advert for the English game and the finest Champions League final, we have
witnessed for many a year.
So what now? A summer where we'll be constantly reminded that England didn't qualify... A few weeks without the weekly football fix won't kill many of us, but after a few weeks we know we'll be itching to watch a good game.
So here at Football FanCast we have decided that you can help us chose the team Football FanCast supports during the Euros. Click here to read a run down of each nation and their players and vote for the one we should support!
Football FanCast is also launching live text commentary of all 31 matches. Great if you can't get to a TV to watch the game. We have a team of eager beavers that we'll be chaining to the TV and their laptops to bring you the latest action for every match as it happens. The screen updates every 30 seconds with the latest scores, goals, yellow cards, penalties, substitutions etc. Here is an example of what you can expect to see
We have also pulled together a guide on some of the best sites out there for the Euros 2008 so you can keep abreast of all the latest news and views this summer.
FFC's GUIDE TO THE EUROS 2008
The Tournament
So it all
kicks of on the 7th June with Group A. At 6pm the first match is Switzerland vs. Czech Republic
at 6m at Basel- St Jakob Park. Followed by 8.45pm kick-off between Portugal & Turkey at the Stade de Genève.
This will be only the second time the tournament has been jointly hosted after Belgium & the Netherlands hosted Euro 2000, the next tournament is also expected to be jointly held after the Ukraine & Poland won the bid to host Euro 2012.
The main site is www.euro2008.uefa.com. This has all the usual facts, such as fixtures, results, details on the host nations. It also has loads of weird and wonderful facts, and the videos aren't bad either.
Bag
yourself some tickets
UEFA have sold all their tickets to you have to go to a 3rd party to get your tickets now if you want to go. Be careful of the ticket touts selling you some duds! For full list of ticket sellers and their rating go to tickettout.org. Even if you can't get tickets all the host cities have big screens and fan zones, the atmosphere promises to be good and the weather will probably be a darn site better than our British Summer time!
The Best site in our opinion to get tickets is Seatwave.com
If you need somewhere to stay check out our travel search for hotels here or try Euros2008Hotels.com
