FIFA president Sepp Blatter stepped down on Tuesday amid a corruption scandal that consumed the organisation and implicated nine current and former executives.

Blatter’s shock announcement came just four days after his re-election following calls for his resignation from the UEFA and English FA chairman Greg Dyke, among others.

Dyke called the move "a brilliant day for the game."
