It’s time for the FA Cup 4th round this weekend and Thomas Rooney of footballtips.com has picked out three essential bets to place.

There’s no doubt that the FA Cup provides some unpredictable moments. After all, we wouldn’t discuss the Magic of the Cup if the favourites always came through would we?

It provides us with an opportunity to make the most of some excellent value though and for this weekend, we are backing the following selections – all at generous odds.

1) Manchester City to turn on the style – AGAIN!

Every single Manchester City home game can be seen as a banker this season. Whoever they take on at the Etihad Stadium, they are expected to be too strong and more often than not this has been the case.

You could refer to the home defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but this was early in Manuel Pellegrini’s reign and in many ways, served as a wake up call. They have improved no end since.

On Saturday, they host Championship Watford and this you’ve simply got to dip into a goals related market. It will be no surprise to hear we’re backing Man City to win – but by how many?

A home victory and over 3.5 goals is definitely tempting at 5/6 with Ladbrokes, but we are going one step further for some extra FA Cup value.

2) Goals galore between Rochdale and Wednesday!

It’s not the most glamorous FA Cup tie this weekend and not one that will get too much attention either, but Rochdale v Sheffield Wednesday could be a dark horse for the game of the weekend.

League Two Rochdale have been in the goals of late and they will take the game to Wednesday. It’s ten goals in four games for the hosts, including two against Leeds United in the last round.

Sitting 2nd in the table, they will not be threatened by higher league opposition and hopefully their attacking confidence will result in an entertaining game.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that Wednesday are playing with more belief than in quite some time too. Stuart Gray’s men are unbeaten in seven games and scored 11 in the last three.

Two confident teams going head to head in the FA Cup = Goals!

3) Sheffield United to beat Fulham

For our FA Cup upset this weekend, we are backing League One Sheffield United to knock out Premier League Fulham. This is a tough trip for the Cottagers and probably one they could do without.

Battling against relegation, the visitors progressed at the expense of Norwich City in the last round, but the Canaries didn’t exactly put up much of a fight. Away from home, they could come unstuck.

Not only do Fulham have just one win on the road since October, but they have shipped an average of three goals per game away from home since this success.

Throw in the fact they are set to rest a few senior players and it looks a wise selection to back a Sheffield United side that will be fired up and hasn’t lost in five on home soil.

The Blades have been in the goals too!
