The EPL is simply overrated. With the emergence of Chelsea and City, a quick fix solution by collection of mercenary superstars is now favoured over a well drilled team with a definite playing pattern and club ethos. If this attitude of buying all buyable players is not stopped and efforts are not placed on team spirit, cohesion and a well articulated playing patters, the EPL will gradually lose its prime position in Europe. It would become worse because these teams will do well domestically but their deficiencies will be exposed in Europe and easily knocked out in the group stage.

There is only one reason Premier League is more exciting to watch than other leagues and that is it's competitiveness . There is a key match-up in English top League virtually every week and there are no easy games any more. Smaller pitches make the game quicker and more attractive to watch. For a shear quality however, nothing can beat the Spanish league . Not only are the best players there but also the quality of football is superior to that in England , and I'm not just talking about Barca and Real Madrid here . Man U and Man City learnt it first hand , when they got bounced in Europa Cup by Spanish clubs last year.
