Whilst the nation gears up to face another reported 4p rise in fuel litre prices, thousands of football supporters will be benefitting from an unexpected lift on their way to Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final. Competition sponsor Capital One is giving fans of Bradford City and Swansea City the opportunity to travel for free.
The Capital One Convoy, a fleet of official supporters’ coaches – over 20 from each club – will set off on the long trip to Wembley on Sunday 24th February. Capital One’s gesture means that both clubs have significantly increased the number of supporter coaches travelling to the showpiece Final and eased the financial burden for thousands of fans.
The offer rewards loyal followers of both clubs, whose teams have beaten the odds to reach the Capital One Cup Final for the first time in their respective histories. Ahead of their appearance at Wembley, Bradford City fans have travelled total of 910 miles in the competition at a fuel cost of around £172 per fan, while Swansea’s route to the final has taken in 1,156 miles at approximately £223.
Michael Woodburn, Chief Marketing Officer at Capital One, said: “Fans of both clubs face over a 300 mile round trip to Wembley and we wanted to reward their loyalty and thank them for their passionate support in the competition throughout the season. The journey to Wembley is part of the magic of a Cup Final day and the thousands of fans aboard the Capital One Convoy will be getting their day off to the best possible start.”
