Current Top 10 foreign players in Premiership
In the FA Premier League this season there are a number of foreign players who continue to light up the Premiership and continue the tradition of the Premier League featuring the best foreign players from around the world. Currently in the Premiership, the teams at the top of the FA Premier League all have world-class foreign players and they continue to dominate the Premiership scoring charts. But will any of the current foreign players in the Premiership go on to become Premier League greats like Cantona, Henry and Zola. Here is a look at 10 of the best of the current crop:
10: Patrice Evra – The French left-back made it into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2nd time last season and helped Manchester United to their 3rd consecutive FA Premier League title. Evra is quick and strong and is solid in defence as well as being a threat going forward, and the Frenchman has the potential to become the best left-back in the Premiership of all time.
-
9: Andrey Arshavin – The Russian midfielder only joined the FA Premier League last season but has made an immediate impact. After spending all of his career in Russia, Arshavin joined Arsenal earlier this year and will be hoping to lead the Gunners to their first Premiership title in 6 years. The attacking midfielder is a very skilful player and has already scored some spectacular goals in his 1st year in the Premiership.
-
8: Michael Essien – The Ghanaian midfielder is a highly underrated player and will be vital in Chelsea’s challenge for the Premier League title this season. His versatility can sometimes work against him, but Essien has already racked up 107 Premiership appearances for Chelsea and at the age of 26 he is arguably yet to hit his peak and can develop even further.
-
7: Edwin van der Sar – The veteran Dutch goalkeeper has had a very successful 5 year spell with Manchester United in the Premiership, picking up 3 FA Premier League titles and featuring in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year twice. Despite his advancing years, van der Sar remains a very reliable ‘keeper who United are finding difficult to replace.
-
6: Robinho – The Brazilian footballer is yet to hit his stride in the FA Premier League, but much of expected of him as he remains the most expensive transfer to the English Premiership. He joined Manchester City for £32.5 million in 2008, and City will be hoping that he can propel them towards their first Premiership title and make them a recognised force in the English game.
-
5: Emmanuel Adebayor – Adebayor is currently in his 5th year in the Premier League and has an impressive scoring record. The Togolese striker has scored 50 Premiership goals in 112 Premier League games in his spells for both Arsenal and Manchester City. During that time he has been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year once and will be looking to feature again this season.
-
4: Nemanja Vidic – The Serbian defender has been a solid and commanding presence during Manchester United’s last 3 successful FA Premier League campaigns. Vidic has played 108 times in the Premiership and has also been selected in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the last three years, currently making him one of the best defenders in the Premiership.
-
3: Didier Drogba – The Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker has all of the attributes required for being a top Premiership striker, having pace, power and a good goal scoring record. Drogba has played in the FA Premier League for Chelsea in 5 seasons, during which time he has 64 Premiership goals in 145 Premiership appearances and has been selected for the PFA Premier League Team of the Year once.
-
2: Cesc Fabregas – The young Spanish midfielder has already impressed in the Premiership for Arsenal, where he is now the captain and their key player. Fabregas playmaking and passing abilities are up there with any player currently playing in the Premier League, and the Spaniard has the potential to become a legendary foreign Premiership player for years to come.
-
1: Fernando Torres – The Liverpool and Spain striker is now in his 3rd season in the FA Premier League and has already netted 48 Premiership goals in just 67 Premiership appearances. His Premier League strike rate compares well with any Premiership striker, and last season he was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2nd time and I’m sure it won’t be his last.

Seriously John? Cole is better? Not a chance. And Robinho over, let’s say, Friedel or Berbatov?
Cesc Fabregas is way better than Torres in terms of contribution towards the league. I cant see a certain Mr. Van Persie or William Gallas if we look for both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Robinho? Essien? They are great playing for their nations.
Where is Petr Cech? Robbie Keane?
Shitty Choices.
Arshavin is definitely better than Robinho…he was in poor form for a decent amount of this season. Once he gets his act in gear as far as fitness is concerned he will shine as one of the EPL and world brightest stars
arshavin is far better than many of those above him
