Even though it is the Manchester Derby this weekend, there are plenty of other games to whet the appetite as far as Fantasy Football is concerned. So, it’s time to identify the possible winners this weekend.

The Captaincy Debate

Let’s start off with Robin van Persie who led Arsenal to a good 2-1 win against Sunderland last weekend. The 28-year-old has five goals from eight games in the Premier League and he is the Gunners main goal outlet. If Arsene Wenger’s side score against Stoke this weekend, the chances are van Persie will be on the scoresheet.

However, Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has been in good form for the Blues. He found the back of the net at Stamford Bridge last weekend. What’s more, he is priced very reasonably making him all the more appealing. Playing a vulnerable QPR side, the young forward could well strike again.

Then again, perhaps you want to consider a player from one of the four unbeaten clubs in the 92. Newcastle United made it eight games without a loss last weekend with a spirited fight back against Spurs. They were helped by Demba Ba who grabbed the first equaliser for the Toon. He’s hit a run of form and the former Hoffenheim forward must be confident of netting again this weekend when Wigan come to the North East.

The Manchester Derby cannot be ignored either. Two possible protagonists on Saturday are both midfield creators but also extremely different players. Nani and David Silva have had great seasons so far. Either could well be the difference on Sunday afternoon.

Finally, if you move 35 miles to the west, you’ll reach the city of Liverpool where Luis Suarez will be hoping to add to his goal tally for the season on Saturday evening. The Uruguayan will take on Norwich and although the Canaries are not shipping goals at an alarming rate, Suarez is likely to find the net at Anfield.

Captain: Robin van Persie looks a safe bet to score against Stoke. Although the Potters are having a good season, they’ve been poor off the back of their Europa League efforts in midweek, conceding six in the two games they’ve played after their European exploits.

Vice Captain: Demba Ba – why not? Newcastle are on a high at the moment and it’s hard to see Wigan bringing them back down to earth at St James Park on Saturday.

The Outside Bet

Whilst Blackburn Rovers as a team have been performing far from their potential this season, Junior Hoilett has been a shining light amongst the gloom of a relegation battle. He’ll be looking forward to Spurs coming to the North West this weekend. The Canadian international is certainly a player Harry Redknapp will have to take seriously when considering his side’s defensive plans.

Long Term Look

He may have a tricky game on Sunday but Jonathan Walters is a player that all Fantasy managers should be considering for a possible transfer. On the official Fantasy Premier League site, he is listed as a midfielder when in actual fact he spends almost all of his time for the Potters up front. Prior to his time at Stoke, he had enjoyed a career as a Football League journeyman but now he is a pivotal part of Tony Pulis’ plans.
