Hello internet! Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Premier League captain choices, in which we look at the players that could give us a considerable return of double points if handed the coveted armband.

But before we dwelve into our options, let’s take a look at last week’s choices and see who performed and who flopped.

1. Sergio Aguero (6)

2. Harry Kane (2)

3. Riyad Mahrez (14)

4. Roberto Firmino (13)

5. Mesut Ozil (10)

All in all, it was a pretty good set of predictions, with any of those five other than Kane giving us some decent returns. Mahrez once again proved to everyone why, like Aguero, he should almost be considered as captain every single gameweek regardless of opposition.

But let’s not look at the past and look towards the weekend instead, where we wish a few of our captain choices can help you gain ground or jump ahead in your respective mini leagues.

Here are FIVE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE CAPTAIN CHOICES ahead of Gameweek 26.

Sergio Aguero

Aguero1

Yes, once again (boring), we have put Sergio Aguero (13.6) on top of our list. Why?

Well, because the Argentine is THAT good. Aguero has scored an incredible seven goals in the space of just six games, including a consolation in their 3-1 loss to Leicester City. Despite missing half of the campaign with injury, the former Atletico Madrid man already has 14 league goals.

City face second place Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but last season in the same fixture at the Etihad, Aguero scored not a hat-trick, but FOUR goals. This seems like a stronger Spurs side, but if Aguero turns it on not many teams in the world can stop him.

Diego Costa

Diego Costa 8

Chelsea look like a totally different team under interim boss Guus Hiddink, but no one looks as changed and reinvigorated as much as Diego Costa (10.6).

The Brazilian-born Spain international has scored six goals and provided two assists in the last seven fixtures, with his latest strike an injury time equalizer against Manchester United earning him full bonus points.

With Newcastle United rolling up next at Stamford Bridge, we expect the Blues to be on the front foot for most of the fixture and that will allow Costa even more opportunities than he had against United.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku (8.8) has gone off the boil a bit, but he scored a penalty which bagged his first goal in the past six league games, ending in full bonus points as well.

The Toffees striker could have upped his tally even more if it wasn’t for Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland and the woodwork, and if he performs at the same level he will be difficult to stop on Saturday.

Roberto Martinez’s men host West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park, with the Baggies’ high injury list in defence music to the ears for those that have Lukaku.

Riyad Mahrez

Riyad Mahrez (centre)

Riyad Mahrez (7.1) may be playing Arsenal away, but what we learned is that the Algerian can produce in any fixture, even the big games.

And it doesn’t get much better than this weekend, with the Foxes travelling to the Emirates to face Arsenal in a top-of-the-table clash. The Gunners know they need a victory due to Leicester’s five point lead, and pushing men forward could open up space for Mahrez to supply a brilliant assist or break in on goal himself.

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney

After a very slow start to the season, Wayne Rooney (10.0) has regained his world class form by scoring five goals in the past six games, making him once again a considerable Fantasy Football asset.

The England international also has a hand in several assists, providing three in his last five matches which boosts his appeal even further.

But it’s Manchester United’s next opponents that make Rooney a stand-out candidate, with the Red Devils playing a struggling Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this Saturday.
