Arsene Wenger has refrained from properly replacing Alex Song with a new arrival in the transfer market, and for the most part Arsenal have been seen to be doing ok with Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin in that position this season. But another body is essential, as Abou Diaby’s injury record means he unreliable and Jack Wilshere will need to be rested sooner rather than later. Benat has been excellent for Real Betis this season, and the Seville-based side currently find themselves fourth in La Liga, ahead of Malaga and just behind Real Madrid. Benat can play a defensive role in midfield but can also push further up. He’s a player of good technical quality, while his ability at set pieces means he would be a high class addition to Arsenal. Betis are thought to want £20 million, but there should be a feeling that he can be picked up for much less.
