Nacho Monreal has been one of many Malaga players to really step up this season. With the added responsibility and excitement of Champions League football, coupled with the financial situation weighing the club down, Monreal has upped his game in the left-back spot and has offered a better defensive option over the attack-minded Eliseu. Monreal is another player in Spain who is making a name for himself and trying to play his way into Vicente Del Bosque’s side: were it not for Jordi Alba, it’s likely the Malaga full-back would be in the Spain starting XI. The La Liga side are looking to fight off the problems they’ve faced this season, actions which have seen them add figures both in defence and attack this January. For that, they’re unlikely to part with Monreal for anything less than an irresistible offer. However, if Liverpool can tempt them into selling, the English side would be picking up a very good defender.
