Former Sunderland and West Ham stars have pride in the shirt
Ghana came into the 2013 African Cup of Nations as one of the favorites to win the tournament. After a disappointing draw against Congo, the Black Stars are looking to bounce back in their match against Mali today.
Ghana will count on 10-year Black Star captain Asamoah Gyan to lead the charge against Mali. The former Sunderland striker scored the Ghana’s first goal in their 2012 African Cup of Nations victory over Mali. The captain will look to add to his current tally of 30 goals with Ghana.
John Pantsil, former West Ham and Fulham defender, will be another critical leader for the Black Stars. The veteran defender will play be an important leader on the pitch. In their first match, Ghana’s starting eleven featured five players making their African Cup of Nations debut.
To celebrate Ghana’s quest toward their fifth African Cup of Nations trophy, we are giving away a Black Stars shirt.
The shirt was designed by Creative African Network artist Godfried Donkor. He said the main inspiration for the kit was the team name “Raining Black Stars.” Donkor has been designing the kit since the FIFA World Cup more than a year ago.
