Liverpool line up £19m move & Rodgers keeps tabs on Toon ace – Best of LFC
With no cup competitions to divert their focus the main objective for the Reds now is to push hard for a top-six finish before the Premier League downs tools in May. And that is something Brendan Rodgers has recognised, commanding his players to treat their final 11 matches as ‘cup finals’. It’s certainly not out of the realms of possibility for the Anfield club to snatch a late European place and the feeling is that sixth, which would represent an overachievement for Rodgers in his first season as manager on Merseyside, isn’t out of reach. Whether they have the mental aptitude to achieve that lofty goal is another question entirely. The Reds have been known to blow hot and cold this term with their last half dozen league games reading lost, won, drawn, drawn, lost, won. If they’re to sneak in to the upper echelons before the seasons ends they must start to produce more consistent performances otherwise it’s a nailed on mid-table finish.
This week on FFC discusses where the Reds would be if Luis Suarez was sold and which Anfield old boy is currently sitting high on Rodgers’ summer shopping list?

Quote of the Week
“I’ve had to do quite a bit of growing up, to keep my head down, and I understand completely I haven’t made it yet – as a young player you’ve just got to keep working hard all the time. I understand the situation, and hopefully I can get on the bench and then make an impact coming off the bench. That is the way to keep progressing, to try and get a chance and then to take it.” Raheem Sterling accepts he still has a lot to learn at Liverpool after his breakthrough season
