An internet craze, then the subject of a song, now a popular way of celebrating in football. The selfie is a modern trend, but it’s no longer just pouty teenage girls posing in front of a mirror, players in the beautiful game get involved on an almost weekly basis.
The English club to have hopped on the bandwagon to the greatest degree is Arsenal, with Santi Cazorla and Wojciech Szczesny perhaps the most prolific users of the new tool. Here’s a ‘memorable’ effort after the Gunners’ win at Tottenham last season:

But now MLS star Dom Dwyer has truly taken things to the next level. The English born (sigh) Sporting Kansas City star coolly slotted home against Chicago Fire to put his side in the lead before rushing towards the crowd to celebrate. On his way to the fans he grabbed a phone from a member of staff before snapping himself and a team-mate to capture the moment. Thankfully he got booked for the incident. Don’t believe us? Here’s the resulting image and a video of the incident. Over to you, Arsenal…
