For the big clubs a financial hit is not enough. Having to give up youth or squad players plus a sum of money will definitely keep them on their toes and could be beneficial within the league.

As a big club however, I would just buy internationally and sell locally.

simple really, take chelsea getting demba ba for example, surely some squad players and players that are considered surplus would help out newcastle tremendously no? send over a couple players deemed surplus plus some cash and you have a deal that benefits both clubs, and doesnt completely shatter newcastle

What if you needed a player but didn’t have anyone the other team wanted or needed? Won’t this suggestion cause big clubs stock up with a large table of players and filtering a, b , c teams just to have the stock on hand for appropriate level trades? Interesting suggestion but have not worked out a practical way it can be implemented

It’s kinda like apples and bananas, being entry level players are involved in a draft system in the US, either,through the college system or minor leagues and sometimes both.
Whereas there’s no comparable system in Europe.
However i have no doubt the owners in Europe, will attempt to install a salary cap of some sort.
Which i believe will not be like the US system, the players as of yet not having strong unions to negotiate for a percentage of profits.
It will be simply an amount negotiated with the european governing body, that most owners can agree to.

Great post. I played college basketball in the states and some of my team mates got drafted. I think the states who often get things wrong have their sports programs bang on. I have believed that a salary cap should be in play across the EPL for ages and it would work.
