A PLEA to Harry Redknapp
Football FanCast guest columnist Peter Davis feels that Harry Redknapp would be silly to make changes, especially after last Sunday’s demolition job.
They say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and why I am certain Harry Redknapp is itching to make one or two changes for this afternoon’s game, I plea with him not to especially after our demolition job last Sunday.
There is no doubt that stepping on the pitch this afternoon, the player’s confidence is likely to be sky high and everyone will be itching to carry on where they left off last week. It is fully understandable and I ask the question as to whether Harry should really be looking to break this momentum up for the sake of players like Jermaine Jenas and Robbie Keane.
Robbie absence from last week was inevitable, due to the mental strain of Ireland’s World Cup exit and while I feel he has been playing a lot better this season than some fans give him credit for, I believe that Redknapp will be absolutely crazy to break up the Crouch and Defoe partnership, especially after last weekend. Tom Huddlestone probably had one of his best games in a Tottenham shirt last weekend and while Jenas does bring energy and mobility to the midfield, the truth is that this is hardly something we need against Villa, given that their central midfield is hardly likely to overrun us.
I’m a firm believer that you should never change a winning side unless injury forces you to and this is one occasion where Redknapp doesn’t need to make changes. Harry is probably tempted to play Keane, especially given that Robbie has a decent record against Villa and listening to the noises in the week it sounds like that could well be Harry’s intention, but as I mentioned, why break up the momentum built up from last week, especially as their presence in the team is hardly going to make any significant difference.

I think he will make the changes. Maybe not a bad thing as I think Keane will cause more problems against the likes of Dunne and Collins than Crouch will
Totally disagree Jevon. Harry must keep the same team because it was as balanced last week as it has been all season. I hope he keeps it as a 4-4-2 as playing all three strikers, as proven, is an absolute disaster.
I think Dawson might be the weak link.he has slowed up a lot this year.However he still produces.
