One thing has to be understood in football, perfomance.

For a player to be recognised and applauded, one has to perfom consistently, create goals and opportunities for fellow team mates, score goals, have a superb vision and know what to do with the ball. A player’s perfomance on the pitch is what matters most and as such true journalists will understand that the so called ‘HYPE’ has to come from the player’s perfomance week in week out. bright and excellent youngsters who start of well get carried away by the comments in the media and soon lose focus on their game. I personally think that journalists should be professional enough to report true sport not speculation and hearsay. it is very sad that some of these bright gems soon fade and under perform due to the pressure that the media places on their shoulders. It should be noted that these youngsters need guidance not pressure from the media vultures. Yes, we expect players to perform, yes everybody loves stars and hell yeah we love winners. Let us not forget that in the end what say, hear and write affects the subject in question (in this case brilliant youngsters). It would be great to read articles that instead of adding pressure to these kids, would insulate them from all misconceptions about football and stardom and guide these youngsters and so protect the from the potential harmful effects of ‘BAD’ press. one thing that these journalists have to understand is that, “our words can either build or destroy, heal or kill.”

I conclude by saying, hats off to these youngsters for giving us fans something to look forward to every weekend at the games and shame on the so called ‘journalists’…you guys need to clean up your act.
