With the arrival of an astute manager in Brendan Rodgers, the promise of new signings at Parkhead and the return of the Old Firm derby, there hasn’t been this much excitement at Celtic since Tony Watt tore Barcelona apart some four years ago.

With the quality and draw of the SPFL drifting since the departure of Rangers, Celtic have found it hard to attract the standard of players needed to make a serious push in European competition.

However, with Brendan Rodgers at the helm, the club have a manager who is internationally known, respected and will be able to convince the very best available to join him in his new challenge.

Here are six additions to complete Brendan Rodgers’ title challenging side at Celtic...

Kolo Toure

Kolo Toure (Liverpool)

In one of the longest running transfer rumours of the summer thus far, Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring Kolo Toure to Parkhead and yet again reunite with one of his former players.

Toure is currently a free-agent and is reportedly the subject of a host of big-money moves from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and China.

However, if Rodgers could persuade the 35-year-old that Celtic is a better option short-term, it could be one of the most astute signings of the summer.

Danny Ward

AFC Bournemouth v Liverpool - Barclays Premier League

Reports are circulating that Celtic are in a battle with Huddersfield to bring Liverpool ‘keeper Danny Ward on loan for the season.

The 23-year-old has previously worked with Brendan Rodgers and is thought to favour a move to Celtic and provide some healthy competition for current number one Craig Gordon.

While Ward may not be the big name signing that fans were hoping for, Ward is an astute back-up and is more than capable of excelling in the SPFL.

Scott Sinclair

Scott Sinclair (centre)

After a number of disappointing seasons in the Premier League since departing Swansea in 2012, Scott Sinclair is desperate for first team football, something which he is guaranteed at Celtic Park.

Two offers from Brendan Rodgers have reportedly been rejected by Aston Villa, who are looking to hold out for their £6million valuation.

Should the Bhoys persuade Sinclair to head north, they would be recruiting a class talent, who could cause serious problems for league opponents, if he earns a run of games.

Ragnar Sigurdsson

Ragnar Sigurdsson

One of the most surprising stars of Euro 2016, Ragnar Sigurdsson has thrust himself into the European spotlight and a host of clubs have expressed the interest in the 30-year-old.

Reputedly available for a modest sum, Sigurdsson would be a real coup for Celtic as they prepare themselves for one of the toughest seasons in a number of years.

Alan Judge

Alan Judge

Adjudged (no pun intended) to be the third best player in the English Championship last season, Alan Judge had a superb campaign and deserved more than a mid-table finish with Brentford.

The Irishman rifled a number of Rangers fans earlier in the season, after reports surfaced that his former manager Mark Warburton wanted him to join Rangers.

"I wouldn’t be going to Rangers, not a chance. I had that call in the summer and I went ‘are you kidding me? I’d get killed if I went up there," he said.

The lifelong Celtic fan would be a formidable signing for Brendan Rodgers and would certainly enjoy his reception when visiting Ibrox, if he decides to head north of the border.

Bradley Dack

Walsall v Gillingham - Sky Bet Football League One

Voted as the League One Player of the Year 2016, young midfielder Bradley Dack is fast making a name for himself in the English game.

The 22-year-old scored 15 times and created 11 assists for Gillingham last season and was the subject of a number of bids in January.

A steal in today’s market at a reported £2million valuation, Dack would be a very useful addition to Celtic’s offensive options.
