Football thrives on its reputation as the seed that sprouts a million different opinions. If we all simply sat still nodding in agreement then stadiums across the country would resemble an advert for Churchill Insurance and not the rapturous, euphoric scenes we all know and love. There would be no need for fans forums, post-match analysis or even football phone-ins, wait perhaps that last example would be a good thing.

The announcement of the PFA awards always stirs up a healthy batch of debate, with fans across the country eager to throw their two cents into the communal fountain of the Premier League. This year has seen the surprise inclusion of Scott Parker, Gareth Bale and David Silva who perhaps out-muscled more deserving candidates thanks to an impressive start to the season. With this in mind I have compiled my own alternative version that I hope heaps some worthy praise on certain individuals.

Join me on Twitter @theunusedsub where I’m trying to track down Jonny Evans, to inform him that he is in fact not the best defender in the country.
