The Premier League season will continue to drag on, and with it will be the idea that the only thing really holding Liverpool back is a lack of depth in attack. There are problems with the no.1 goalkeeper and the team will obviously welcome Lucas back with open arms, but they’ll never run away from the positive impact some fresh faces can bring to the forward line.
Liverpool have done a good job of mixing youth with experience this season, and there have been a number of positive displays to suggest they could make a lot of progress forward. But the issue has been an over reliance on Luis Suarez, who is now perhaps fortunate to have missed an extended period of time during last season.
All Liverpool need is some consistency and added fight in the form of a new signing. And while it’s always easy to target the biggest names who are reportedly available—the Huntelaars and Llorentes—Europe remains a diamond mine of good players if you know where to look.
