The Premier League always has its favourites, those players who can seemingly do no wrong in the eyes of the press, or even the supporters. Certain individuals have gained a reputation way beyond what their abilities actually deserve and therefore when push comes to shove, they simply flatter to deceive in performance. This is often a rare occasion, indeed fans and the press are the first to pick up on any misfiring players and give them a hard time, you only have to look at David De Gea’s season last year to see what a miserable period he endured at the hands of others.

Those players who aren’t worth their reputations on paper therefore have a lucky escape given the abuse suffered by some of their fellow professionals, but if they continue to play to levels below their ability then people might start to suss them out.
