Arsenal poached Kolo Toure for a mere £150,000 from Abidjan based club ASEC Mimosas in 2002, in a superb bit of business that would do them well both on and off the pitch.
Toure was of course an integral part of the infamous ‘Invincibles’ team in what was only his second season at the club, as he went on to make 225 appearances in seven seasons with the Gunners. With Manchester City eventually shelling out £16million for him in 2009, it was a superb bit of initial business by Arsene Wenger’s men.
