The 2012 Ryder Cup tees off today at the Medinah Country Club in Illnois, USA pitting the best golfers in the United States against the best Europe has to offer in the 39th instalment of this intriguing golfing major.

With this self-proclaimed war of independence taking place over the weekend, we saw it fit to cast the microscope over the best American footballers, yet to taste soccer outside their native Major League Soccer.
