Tottenham’s attack this season has been over-reliant on homegrown hero Harry Kane, with his partnership with Christian Eriksen the fulcrum of the north London club’s chances of success.

When the newly-capped England international has fired, Spurs have inevitably won, but with the weight of expectation growing, Kane clearly needs support in the Tottenham attack.

With Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor failing to act as suitable back-up options and the use of Eriksen on the left flank regularly, there is scope for Kane to either drop into the number ten role or for Spurs to play two strikers.

Although the White Hart Lane side have been linked to a host of strikers over recent months, here are three that fit in with the club’s ethos and could fire Spurs into the top four next season.

Alexandre Lacazette

The France international has been a revelation in Ligue 1 this season, with his goals shooting Lyon into an unexpected title challenge.

A player that has been on the collective radar for some years, Lacazette has started to live up to his early career billing and has added goals to impressive personal displays in 2014-15.

A total of 24 Ligue 1 goals in 27 games shows his predatory nature, while the sprightly attacker is starting to be recognised with the national team also.

At 23-years-old, the Lyon centre-forward is ready for a move to a top European league and would represent quite the coup for Spurs this summer.

Luiz Adriano

Although Spurs do not have a good record with Brazilian players, Shakhtar Donetsk hitman Luiz Adriano would be an impressive addition.

The 28-year-old has been on the Ukrainian club’s books for seven years and has averaged almost a goal every two games over this prolonged period.

Adriano ended last season with 20 league goals and although he has only managed seven this time round, his exploits in the Champions League make up for this.

Nine strikes in the group stage of Europe’s top tournament is an impressive return, while his tally in all competitions stands at 18 currently.

The South American is out of contract in the summer and finally looks set to move to one of Europe’s top leagues.

With Adriano a proven goalscorer and available on a free transfer, Spurs should snap him up.

Mauro Icardi

Another ambitious target, Argentine hotshot Icardi has been a rare bright spark in an otherwise underwhelming campaign for Inter this season.

The former Barcelona youth academy member has found his feet at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this term, leading the Inter line with sparkling dynamism and a deadly eye for goal.

Icardi has netted 16 Serie A goals, 21 in all competitions, and has all the hallmarks of the next top-class Argentine striker.

With compatriot Pochettino at the helm for Spurs and Inter set to miss out on Champions League football, splurging on Icardi would give Tottenham a lethal centre forward to partner Kane - but they will most likely have to battle a number of big European clubs to land the promising South American.
