In a game overshadowed by Andre Marriner’s first-half madness, it’s easy to forget that Chelsea actually moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League when the final whistle ended Arsenal’s misery. With just the seven matches left to play, it looks as if the Blues have it all in their hands, with the teams behind playing catch-up – even though Man City have games in hand. There is a long way to go and football is anything but predictable, but here are three reasons we at FFC towers are tipping Chelsea for glory.

Squad Depth

Andre Schurrle is by no means a regular at the Bridge, but when called upon he does a sterling job. The German made it seven goals in 10 starts with his effort today, proving that Chelsea have goals in abundance throughout their ranks.

The Mourinho effect

On a day where Arsene Wenger was the main talking point, Jose Mourinho still stole the show. The Portuguese coach may not be everyone’s favourite character, but boy can he do a job!

Beat their rivals

Going into the game Chelsea could have ended the day with just a one point, but their determination shone through. It was also another impressive result to add to victories against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
