The skilful little Croatian used to represent everything that was good about Tottenham’s attacking play before he flew the nest to Real Madrid in the summer.  There was tangible disappointment around White Hart Lane with many fearing their season would take a turn for the worse, with Rafael Van der Vaart also making a deadline day move.  There has been an anxiety ever since the window closed for AVB to be allowed to buy those final pieces to the attacking jigsaw in January.

Now the Lilywhites will be firmly in festive spirits going into the Christmas period in the Champions League places, sitting pretty in 4th place. There is the definite feeling that Daniel Levy should let his manager strike the iron whilst it’s hot and bring in an exciting attacking midfield talent that could fill the Luka Modric void and ensure Tottenham can earn themselves a spot back amongst Europe’s elite.
