It is no secret that the Newcastle United squad is crying for some investment in January. Alan Pardew has admitted as much and will be keen to bolster the squad after admitting under cooking it in the summer. He will see this as a time to line Newcastle’s stomachs and replenish the belly of his side with adequate reinforcements, so they are not starved for options for the rest of the campaign.

Mike Ashley has represented a scrooge character with his failure to cough up the funds necessary. Pardew will be handing in his Christmas list early, hoping to exploit some festive cheer from his owner keen to find some bargains in the January sales.
