It was pretty hard to come up with 10 Moyes flops.

Wow Tom a bit OTT with your list. Li Tie and Wei-Feng were forced upon Moyes for marketing reasons, Simon Davies was sold for 3.5M a loss of 0.5 M hardly a commercial flop, ditto Kroldrup sold for 4M after 6 months and Beattie bought for 6 and sold for 4+ add ons, Rodrigo was on loan and da Silva for free or 500k, as was Jakobsen.

The only 2 flops IMO are AvdM and Wright and bear in mind van der Meyde was bought only for 1.8m but I agree that he was a huge disappointment as was Wright, who was one of the worst keepers Goodison has seen

The thing that strikes me is tha majority of these players were cheap and if they weren’t we got a return on what we spent. Like beats he shipped ot shef united for about 5m.

The only two on that list i’d say were out and out flops was Shandy and Koldrup

I would have included baardsen but I thought he was only at Everton on loan so left him out.

Agree with Al, Jacobsen was class on a free and we should have kept him 1 more year. Rodrigo was just strting to find his feet and get used to the prem rough and tumble when he got injured but looked class. The Chinese lads were never bought in for their football ability, simply for their marketability back in China. I heard that we sold in excess of 1 million Li Tie shirts the first year he played – (get the idea!!)
Dickie Wright suffered some shocking moments, but at times was left horribly exposed by a then awful backline and was a far better keeper than he ever got credit for.
To be blunt, I am sick to the back teeth of all this Moyes bashing. He is a STRICT disciplinarian, and some lads can’t hack it the hard way (Shandy Andy, Beatts etc) – hardly down to Davey if they don’t put in the same as the other lads.

Jacobsen? A free who cost nothing, was a good solid player who got a bad injury playing for Denmark. I’d hardly call him a “flop”.

The same with Rodrigo! An international winger who got injured and cost Everton nothing as he was a loan.

Nice to see you overlooked Epsen Baardsen, You should do your research a little better.
