With Darren Bent’s increased frustration at playing second fiddle to Villa’s new Belgian star Christian Benteke at Villa Park, Bent may look for a move away from the Premier League outfit in January. The 28-year-old, who has a brilliant record at the West Midlands club, scoring 20 goals in 48 Premier League appearances, has publicly voiced his frustration at not being the main man, with Paul Lambert stripping the striker of the Villa captaincy. Fulham and Liverpool are the Premier League sides reportedly sniffing around the England international. With both in need of bolstering their strike forces, Aston Villa will be determined to hang on to Bent who is an experienced campaigner amongst a youthful squad. Whilst a proposed to Liverpool is purely speculation at this stage, Fulham manager Martin Jol, who signed Bent for £16.5 million whilst in charge at Tottenham in 2007, has admitted that the Cottagers will need players like Darren Bent in their side if they want to be a top ten team.
