Tottenham trio put other Premiership footballers to shame

Tottenham midfielder Niko KranjcarHarry Redknapp fondness for a Croatian footballer is well documented and having managed 8 of them during his time as a manager, it is clear there is something about them as individuals that make them stand out from the rest. Judging by what I have been in reading in the past week it must be their incredible professionalism that must appeal; a trait that seems to unfortunately be missing by a majority of Premier League footballers these days.

In a day and age where footballer’s arrogance and ego are proving their own undoing, where being dropped sees the player speaking out in the press, or their agents demanding preferential treatment otherwise their client will move on; it is refreshing to see three footballers provide a welcome change from the norm.

Tottenham’s Croatian trio, Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar have all spoken out in the past two weeks about their current plights. Both Corluka and Modric have suggested that their standards have dropped this season and will be doing their damndest to ensure that they work harder on the training pitch in order to improve. Niko Kranjcar is yet to start a Premier League game this season and realistically has every right to feel disappointed, (given his performances last season) has quashed all talk of a transfer away as a result of the lack of first team football and suggested that Spurs is the club he wants to be at and will just continue to work hard and look to seize any opportunity that comes his way. I ask the question as to how many other Premier League footballers will be so honest about their performances and plight. I think we can count on two hands the amount of players that do and it is one of the reasons why the game is going to the dogs.

I agree. The Croations are thorough professionals and I hope they stay. At best they are easily good enough. Nice to see that Kranjar scored both Crotia’s goals in their 2-0 win.

They are models. You could compare them to the likes of Norwegian proffesionals coming to England during the 90s.

I think Harry has actually managed 9 Croatians, he can’t get enough!

    Bilic
    Prosinecki
    Mornar
    Zivkovic
    Suker
    Modric
    Corluka
    Kranjcar
    Pletikosa

i love our croatians..with the disater that is tottenhams front line id be considering kranjcar as a centre forward, just to get his class on the pitch. scored 6 prem league goals last season. given the position and minutes on the field he could easily double that or better. which will be a damn site more than pav, keane and crouch will score combined lol

Slightly harsh on our strikers, Glen… They are finding it tough at the moment but to suggest Kranjcar upfront instead may be a little rash. Crouch and Pav must have combined 30+ goals last season, (at a guess)
Generally though the Crouts do seem to be of high standards and professionalism.

@Jerkinmahjurgen.. i no im being a bit harsh. but crouch and pav combined last season for a total of 13 goals in the league. crouch 8 pav 5. crouch is slow, uncoordinated and has a pretty poor shot. i dont rate him. never have and he showed how poor he is tonight for england. pav is pretty good but lazy. keane isnt really at the lane anymore. his head is elsewhere. kranjcar has played hardly any football for spurs and turns up to score 3 in 2 games for croatia. not to bad. he has an eye for goal, is skillful, quick and pretty strong. no reason why he couldnt play upfront. and hed be getting played the ball by his good ole mate modric lol. of course this is just my opinion of somethin harry could try id be happy to be proved wrong and since pav, keane and crouch have combined for a grand total of one goal in 7 games why not try someone else.

i agree also. now if only lennon and keane would admit the same and vow to rediscover their form, we’d be laughing

How in the world can our beloved club hope to challenge the best clubs in the world, if our strikers are crouch, pav and keane?? They do not even score goals anymore!!! How nice if Bent is still around and Defoe is not injured. We need to but at least one new striker immediately. We would have won many of our last few matches if we had a top class stiker!!!

Glen, Crouch and Pav may have only scored 13 goals in the league between them but dont forget that Pav only played half a season. Also, Spurs play in other competitions during a season besides the league and the goals Pav and Crouch scored in these games are equally as important as the league goals. And Keane scored 25(ish) goals last season, mostly in the Scottish Sunday League admittedly but goals none the less.

Back to the Croats, very professional and a fanstastic benchmark for our other squad members (David Bentley, I’m looking at you) to strive to. COYS
