The typical image of a WAG usually conjures the image of a rich footballers spouse doing their best to ‘avoid’ the paparazzi whilst struggling to carry more designer bags than their perfectly manicured hands can handle, while floating around in their own image conscious bubble. And in 99.9% of the cases that stereotypical depiction is accurate. But in the case of Dani Lawrence, partner of Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones, there is an exception.

Of course you might recognise her as being a contestant on reality TV series Britain’s Top Model in 2007 but it’s her relationship with Jones that brought her to prominence. It was she who helped the 30-year-old overcome the personal tragedy of losing his son to leukaemia in 2011. It was his diagnoses that led to her running the London Marathon that year in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust, becoming an ambassador for the charity and registering to be lifesaver.

In fact she even put her career as a physiotherapist on hold to go out into schools to hammer home the importance of signing up as a potential donor to sixth formers. Not exactly the archetypal image of a WAG, is it? Thats not to say the rest of them don’t hold similar compassion in their hearts.

The difference is that Dani went out of her way to achieve something and help a charity that helps thousands of sick children every year and that makes her truly special.
