Its fair to say this hasn’t been the best season of Gylfi Sigurdsson’s career to date. Big things were expected of the Icelandic midfielder when joined Tottenham in the summer on the back of an impressive loan spell at Swansea the season before. He was the missing piece in the White Hart Lane engine room. The man to link play in attack and provide a goalscoring presence from midfield Spurs have ached after for years upon years.
Sadly for the 23-year-old nothing has really gone to plan for him this term and has found his playing time severely restricted under Andre Villas-Boas. But, not all is bad in the world of Sigurdsson. Despite not seeing much action in terms of on the pitch, off it he has bagged himself a beauty in the shape of beauty queen Alexandra Ivarsdottir.
Yes, a real life, strutting, pouting, posing beauty queen. 24-year-old Ms Ivarsdottir actually held the title of Miss Iceland 2008 and represented her country in the Miss World 2008 contest in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was there that she triumphed in the first ever Miss World Sport track event and earned a place amongst the top fifteen semi-finalists. Not bad, ey?
So while you might be thinking ‘oh poor Gylfi. He’s being ignored by nasty Andre for no reason whatsoever’ just have a look at what he’s going home to every night. Because that is the best consolation prize the world has to offer!
