This summer is being billed as Arsenal’s most important and ambitious in recent memory. While it may be Arsene Wenger’s last season with the club, it’s important the manager uses all the resources available to him and leaves the team in a strong position.
The past few summers have seen the squad lose a great deal of star appeal and quality with very little coming in to make up for the losses. That needs to change this summer and Arsenal need to once again establish themselves as a big club both in England and in Europe.
A big summer doesn’t always have to mean reckless spending, but it does mean clearing the deck of overpaid and useless players and bringing in names that will help the club challenge for the Premier League title and on the European stage. Aside from the additions and sales, there is a lot for Wenger to do to prepare Arsenal ahead of next season.
