Well, this is a new Man City, so I do not think the past applies. Villa, we do not have a good record against – and we REALLY needed that win last season. This time around is not so vital. It is the games against them that matter – 6 pointers. Stats based on 2009 are including 2 half seasons… I only care about this season, and our record cannot be trusted until we have played Villa, City, Everton and Fulham – these are tough games. We won’t play Wigan every week.

Did we not win last time we met villa and man city, whom we have a good record against. It is getting maximum points against the bottome ten that will define our season and hopefuly getting a few wins against teams in the top half that will get Spurs close. My I also add that Tottenham have the most points in 2009 outside of the top 4.

So far Spurs have proven that they can regularly beat teams outside Top 8. Against the Top four, we have been mostly disappointing. But coming up, we have teams that you would class as the Next 4 – Villa, City, Everton, Fulham. We have to prove that they can handle them – this is the 6-pointer area – plus hard games. We also must keep Palacios fit – he hasn’t been as superb this season, but we have no replacement. We must keep Lennon / Defoe firing. Not let Modric’s return affect the performances and results. Also, when Bassong and Ekotto are away for African nations’ cup, we must have Woody, King fit, and I guess Bale will have to play.

Liverpool will still be diverted by the Europa league. Which is worse – look at how distracted Fulham are. The games are on Thursday, you play league games on following Sunday. They will be better than most teams there, so they should get far! Benitez may be under pressure to win it to save face. (I do think that winning it should get you into early qualifying rounds of Champions League – then we’d all take it seriously!)

We have suffered pretty bad injuries so far this year without making a big fuss about it (Lennon, Modric, King, bassong, Woodgate, Jenas, Pav) as well as lossing Defoe for 3 games so being 4th at this stage is a fantastic achievement. Though I hate to say it, actually wish Liverpool had made the group stages of the CL, we know Rafa like to rest players for a PL game with Cl coming up, now they can concentrate wholey on the league! But saying that, if we can remain consistent, we have a very good chance of CL football regardless of what other teams do
