A 2 million pound French player scored two goals against Chelsea for New Castle and ran Ashley Cole ragged. Had he been English , the media would’ve proclaimed him the next great hope and a 20 million pound price tag would’ve been slapped on him. There’s a reason England haven’t won a major trophy since 1966.

To me there is an irony that the current newcastle united manager once took umberage with AW for decimating the english core of his team with english players (rem arsenal v real madrid 2006 in madrid). pardew, then at west ham boatsed of having bought equally good english players like marlon hayewood for less than 1 million – hence showing there was nothing special about le professor’s so called shrewdness!

There are not enough because there are too many foreigners and while too many are still here there always will be. That’s just plain logic beyond the author it seems.

I remember a time Liverpool where thought of as a Scottish team with Dalglish, Souness and Hansen their best players while Man Utd and Arsenal seemed to made up of Irish players such as Brady, Rice, Nicol, McIllroy and not forgeting the wonderful George Best. The only thing that seems to have changed is the nationalities of the new heroes.
