Who is the Ultimate Fat Footballer of the Modern Game?

There have always been footballers who have been a little bit on the chubby side over the years. Jan Molby, Micky Quinn and Neville Southall are just a few that spring to mind, but this didn’t stop them from playing at the very top level. These days fat footballers are few and far between due to the increased levels of fitness in the modern game, but they are still around.

This week it’s been claimed that £35 million Liverpool signing Andy Carroll has been told to slim down before he makes his debut for the Reds. The former Newcastle man is known to like a beer or two and while he’s been sidelined by a thigh injury it’s thought he’s bulked up a bit. In light of this we thought it would be apt to run a poll on the ultimate fat footballer of the modern game. A special mention has to go to Ronaldo, who no doubt would have been a strong contender had he not retired at the start of the year!
