Jackson Martinez’s agent has claimed that Arsenal are keen to sign his £30m FC Porto client, talkSPORT reveals.
According to the striker’s Italian representative, the Gunners are “very interested” in bringing the Columbian over to the Emirates.
The Gunners are looking to sign an attacker in the upcoming transfer window, with Olivier Giroud currently the only true striker in their ranks.
In just 91 games over two seasons, Martinez scored 60 goals for Porto – alerting a host of top European sides.
With the World Cup just around the corner, Martinez’s value could sky rocket if he leads Columbia to a good run in the competition, especially with Radamel Falcao sitting out through injury.
Chelsea, Tottenham, and Serie-A club AS Roma have all been keeping an eye on the 27-year-old striker, but according to his agent Peppini Tiri, Arsenal and Valencia are leading the chase for his signature.
Tirri told Italian website Calciomercato.it: “In Italy we have had very little contact, but for sure there have not been any offers made by Roma.
“There are, instead, opportunities abroad – Arsenal and Valencia in particular are very interested in Jackson Martinez.”
