Liverpool are close to signing Bayern Munich star Xherdan Shaqiri, as his agent discusses terms with the club, Express reports.
Shaqiri scored a hat-trick in Switzerland’s impressive World Cup game against Honduras last night to earn his country a place in the knock-out phase with Argentina.
And according to Sky Italia transfer guru Gianluca di Marzio, Shaqiri’s transfer from the Bundesliga champions to Merseyside is close to completion.
The Swiss winger currently has two years on his contract but with only 10 starts for the Allianz Arena side last season, could make the £17million switch.
After expecting to announce Southampton’s Adam Lallana as their first summer signing, the arrival of Shaqiri could see the Englishman stay at Saint Mary’s.
Shaqiri would greatly add to Brendan Rodgers’ attacking side after the Reds finished runners-up in the English Premier League last season.
At 22 years of age, the former Basel man already has an impressive CV with two Bundesliga titles and one Champions League medal with Bayern Munich.
