Manchester United hopes of signing Arturo Vidal have been dashed after Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri revealed the midfielder will not leave the club this summer, Express reports.
Vidal has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with reports claiming that the Red Devils made a stunning £40million + Javier Hernandez and Nani offer for the Chile international.
But it seems Vidal is set to stay with the Italian champions after Juve coach Max Allegri told reporters in Singapore: “Vidal? He’s not going anywhere.”
United manager Louis van Gaal was expected to bring more new names before the start of the new season, but has so far only managed to sign Luke Shaw from Southampton and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.
Van Gaal is especially keen to buy a world class centre-midfielder to pair with Herrera, with Marouane Fellaini and Anderson far from ideal for the Dutch boss.
However United will have to look elsewhere, as Vidal is expected to stay for at least another year with the Bianconeri.
Juventus have won three consecutive Serie A titles since the 27-year-old moved from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2011.
