Joe Allen has reportedly told Swansea that he wants to leave the club to join Liverpool, Metro report.

Brendan Rodgers has been tracking his former midfielder all summer long, with the Liberty Stadium outfit rejecting a number of offers for the Wales international.

However, Allen, who has represented Team GB at the Olympics this summer, has a £15 million release clause in his contract and the Merseysiders have met this figure.

Allen watched on as Liverpool beat FC Gomel in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday night, with the formalities of personal terms looking like they will take little time to complete.

A move is said to be on the verge of completion, with the news of a switch set to be revealed in the next 24 hours.
