are ready to hijack Chelsea’s move for Loic Remy, according to the Daily Star.

The 27-year old QPR forward was understood to be on the verge of a short move across west London after they Blues triggered a release clause.

However it now seems that Jose Mourinho’s could have a fight on their hands after Arsenal entered the race for the former Marseille man.

Remy was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates earlier in the summer and an injury to Olivier Giroud has seemingly forced Arsene Wenger into taking action.

The French international would no doubt enjoy more first team action in north London than he would at Chelsea because of that injury, and that is likely to sway him towards the Gunners.

He had looked set to join Liverpool earlier in the season when he underwent a medical at the club but reports suggested that the Frenchman failed the tests.

Mourinho confirmed that his side were interested in signing the striker and confirmed that they are not worried about him failing a medical should a deal be done.

He said: “I know that we’re trying since yesterday (Friday) to get Loic Remy, since we knew Fernando was leaving.”

“Now it’s time to make some calls and have news.

“We have a fantastic doctor and I trust him completely. They will identify any problem.

“The information we have from specialists in different areas is that he does not have a problem.”
